@bastardsheep well I'll try to be as generic as possible because road rules differ somewhat between NSW and QLD. 1. Take your time 2. Safety first. 3. Once you've left a bus stop don't be tempted to open the door for the late comer. You are already running late and possibly waiting for a green light. Refer to point 2. Sometimes you need to be a bastard, just for everyone's safety. 4. Try not to worry about running late. Enjoy the drive. 5. Join the Union! That's it for now. It can be fun job, I was in construction, which was rarely fun!

@01micko 1. I learnt that when being mentored. When I tried pushing my speed I made SO many mistakes. Some dangerous. Now focus on safety & smooth as priority. Speed will come. 2. As above. 3. 100%. So many cases as a passenger I would have expected a bus driver to open the doors, I absolutely won’t now I’m in the drivers seat once I’m more than 1m from the curb. Even if 100% safe I won’t encourage people on to the road. 4. My company is one of the best for this from what I’ve been told. That’s a large part of what makes this job so not stressful. Never be early. If your next run is going to start 15 minutes late then radio in, let it be operation’s problem. Drivers -never- get in trouble for traffic. Apparently other companies you get in trouble if regularly 15 minutes late. Someone in my training was changing company due to it. 5. One of the first things I did. Signed the forms before they even got 3 words in to their spiel selling it.
