It's just an idea, but maybe we should actually have a White History Month where all of us white folks tell the truth about our history. How Reconstruction was a moment of opportunity that we killed with violence. How lynching was the enforcement arm of Jim Crow. How convict leasing took over from slavery. How the "law and order" of the Clintons was the new Southern Strategy. How the perpetuation of white supremacy has been our ever-primary goal.
