Real talk: I havent had a cold since the COVID outbreak basically, so I fully intend to continue doing what I'm doing to avoid hanta. Be bold, stand out, mask up. #MaskUp #COVIDIsNotOver #Covid19

@FknHannu@zeroes.ca Practically the same here--one cold, in 2023, from a pizza box. (got a takeout pizza, colds a few days later. Young man across the street was working at the pizza restaurant, told me that that week everyone in the pizza place had colds. I washed my hands when I got home, but handled the pizza box after...)

@FknHannu@zeroes.ca I know, right? Not one cold in six years. I used to get colds twice a year. Plus, when they announced that the day I was in the airport, someone else in that same airport had been actively contagious with measles, it was Not My Problem - I was in an N95 the whole time. ๐Ÿ™‚

@FknHannu@zeroes.ca But don't assume it's airborne! Many other things are airborne; maintain airborne precautions. (I sure am.) But that's not the only way spread happens, and if we're looking at a hantavirus that spreads well among humans we don't know how it spreads yet.

@FknHannu@zeroes.ca I lived in a college town and I often didn't wear a mask when I was outdoors, unless there were a large number of people around. Now I live in Mexico City. There are always a large number of people around. It took me getting a cold for the first time in years to decide to mask every time I was outside, for the whole time. That cold could have been covid and it could have fucked me up bad.
