Well, yeah, it's kinda the same thing here, just that the legal consequences are different. If, heaven forbid, you killed someone who jaywalked and you weren't negligent at all, you'd risk vehicular manslaughter instead of homicide at the least? It's a shame that too many in both groups lack respect for each other. Car drivers should realize that they're sitting in a very comfortable weapon, compared to the unprotected person out in crappy weather, so the driver shall be alert and considerate... and pedestrians shouldn't take suicidal chances just to save a couple seconds.

It's just numbing yourself, you get tired of constantly checking every angle for some crazy driver. After a decade or so, right around high school age, you just look once and go and if someone wants to hit you hopefully your family gets a nice settlement.
