Yes, for all of the 2000s and part of the 2010s, we were still living under the VC-backed illusion of "IT'S ALL FREEEEE!!!!"
Now they've put the screws to us, for sure.

@rl_dane @grishka I think it all comes down to the distinction between commerce and capitalism, with the latter being ultimately at odds with sustainability, democracy, and humanity. Capitalists want to make the world a better place… but only for themselves and their cronies.
