@megatronicthronbanks @timonsku type A is really horrible, it was a scary experience both when I used it in the USA and Japan. The flat, vertical pins have a tendency to slide out laterally/not fit tightly on most sockets, leading to situations where you have a wall wart that dongles from the wall with partially exposed pins. Also, if protective sleeves on the start of the pins do exist (to avoid touching inadvertently live pins when the plug is half inserted, nowadays standard in all non-recessed-receptacle types), they are not common at all.
