🔥"Carbon footprint" being popularised by British Petrol of all things should be an immediate red flag as to why the term is disingenuous at best, and eco-fascist at worst.
No, you're not personally responsible for X amount of CO2. The companies and your government are, who decided to use fossil fuels instead of renewables to supply that energy, because they'd rather your tax money go to Big Petrol™.

@lenarena@tech.lgbt Carbon Footprint is a great concept, you just should not apply it to common people. Rich people have an enourmus carbon footprint, and certain corporations have an even bigger one. These are the ones we should target. But for a private person it can also be an interesting metric. But not for giving blame. It should give ideas where you should take action. If your footprint is high because of transportation, might it be because your city does not provide public transportation etc?
