shogi is such a weird game to me. it looks quite a bit like chess but professional players were able to beat serious engines as late as the 2010s.
i really dont understand shit about it and it looks just enough like chess that it feels like it can be understood by analogy but i dont think it can lol

wait theres a guy who currently holds 6 of the 8 major titles in the shogi world? wild why are top class shogi players seemingly so young when top class chess players all seem to be older
