Absent people's feelings on LLMs the real issue here is a trust issue. They decided that they don't like something and merged something they knew was a denial of service for those users.
Now how do I know they wont dislike hardware I have and merge something to destroy it? How can I be sure they wont decide that the country I live in isnt up to their standards and they merge things to stop my machines from working? These sorts of changes are not ...

... harmless like the mergers and maintainers are trying to frame. They harm the very core of what makes the OS usable and the fact that they cant see through their own hatred to see the problem is even worse.
