@DerPumu nah, I meant what I meant. There's every kind of people, you see, and it turns out that there's plenty out there that behave like that. Gatekeeping? General sense of entitlement? I dunno, but it happens. Source: 20 years in the web development market as a professional. P.S.: it ain't age when the guy who did it to me last is 10 years younger than me 😉

    @rebeccafinn oh I meant what I meant, too. It _is_ gatekeeping and general sense of entitlement - and it's absolutely unprofessional. This field is about people skills as much as it's about technical skills. Those guys (yes, it's usually guys, in my experience) may have the "senior" title, but they did not earn it through experienced professional behavior but rather in an environment where they get that title just by being there for a couple years - entitlement. (They may not be senior citizens yet, but still, they usually don't get that title in their 20s). So, bottom line, they get to call themselves senior because they're somewhat senior in age, not because they're professional. Source: 17 years in the application and embedded development market as a professional :)
