Sometime, for a few minutes, I can forget the rest of the world and pretend that doing applied physics in the service of the AI death cult and the USA empire is an ok thing to do. But it's not. This whole system is murdering the living Earth. And it's miserable. We can do better. And those of us in science and technology have a much larger responsibility to act to change this hell than most. Most of us are less than 2 degrees of separation from the people who actually make up the technocracy now, they're our college room mates and former friends. Protests don't work. Voting doesn't work. Shouting online doesn't work. Random acts of violence don't work. The only thing that's going to work is to find a better way to build and scale technology, outside of empire and capital. And to do that, we must turn to the fire hose of trash that defines the built world we presently inhabit. And we must build a techno-system based on free replication across free media which can replace the paradigm of "consumer media". That is the purpose of Trash Magic: to create and scale technology using self-replicating information encoded in the free stream of trash produced by the existing techno-system.
