Maybe it's related to men also purportedly thinking about the fall of Rome every 67 seconds or some other such nonsense.

@dabeaz my theory is that having enormous wealth establishes the fallacy that what they think must be correct (otherwise how could they get the wealth) and therefore the world should be the way they believe it should be, because that must be correct, no matter how weird the ideas are. Something along those lines.
