No batteries are actually recycled, it's plastic that isn't.
They're recycled because lithium ore is kind of valuable, and when you grind up a battery, what you get is basically high grade lithium ore.
But even if it wasn't, I don't really care about environmental disasters in Africa ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@cjd @nach @djsumdog they mine cobalt by hand. little kids with shovels. don't even ask how they get lead, it's one guy with zero fucks poisoning whole communities.
