In this day in 1974 restaurant worker Celeste Caeiro handed out flowers to soldiers overthrowing the fascist government of Portugal. This uprising by soldiers who were joined by protestors hence became known as The Carnation Revolution.

    Fun fact, the signal for the anti-fascist coup was the playing of Portugal's #Eurovision song on the radio. This song, "E depois do adeus” by Paulo de Carvalho, had come joint last in that year's contest.
