We've been half-loving, half-cursing a ceiling light fixture since we bought this 200+yo house 10y ago
The last of the sockets recently stopped working so I'm finally getting around to dismantling it
No ground, of course. Fabric insulation. Real brass. Socket shield is patented 1907.
Apparently the full lamp would be worth $100-$300 on eBay. Imma just rewire and reinstall it

OK, wow. One of the shields was very stuck. Inside was an apparently original bulb socket with exposed chain pull mechanism. The chain is frozen but the socket otherwise seems perfect. Imma try to get it working again
