"There is one thing we can say for Trump’s attacks on Canada: they have finally given us the space to speak openly and honestly about many of the ways the U.S.-Canada relationship has not been working for us for a very long time — and the digital dimension of our lopsided economic integration is a massive part of that. If Canada is to regain greater autonomy over its affairs and build a better society, we must get serious about reclaiming our digital sovereignty." #CdnPoli

  • @harold Thanks for sharing that very interesting read from Paris Marx. I recently learned about his podcast when someone boosted it here. And I just noticed he's on the fedi !

Carney's efforts to make our economy less dependent on the US will come to nothing if we remain digitally dependent. Escaping that dependent relationship will have costs, but we can look to our European allies to help with that. Unfortunately, he and his pal, the minister of AI, still seem to be utterly enthralled by the Silicon Valley tech oligarchs. @harold
