Apparently, #Discourse has just landed the nested replies support
https://github.com/discourse/discourse/pull/38888
It can be previewed on meta.discourse.org if you replace `/t/` with `/n/` in the thread url.
For ex.
https://meta.discourse.org/n/im-writing-a-short-documentation-for-admins-of-discourse-forums-ive-helped-set-up-do-i-miss-something-in-it/392246
I think the default theme is too white and makes the thread structure hard to recognize.
But I am looking forward to the future adjustments.

And while I am at it, I also found quite cool idea on making the timeline slider more usable. Right now it allows you to jump to a specific post number. But nothing in the UI actually tells you about the post number, so it is not usable on its own. The feature suggests adding breakpoints, so you can jump to a liked or a bookmarked post. I think it could be very usable when you are doing a first pass through a long thread and mark posts you want to reply to. https://meta.discourse.org/t/natural-breakpoints-or-chapters-for-long-topics/16461
