@jacobsa well, it certainly gives everyone the capacity to write a lot more software in a lot less time. like, in the class even the weaker students had a PyQT-based text editor up and running within days. regarding making strong people stronger, yeah I don't. know! I know that it saves me time on some tasks, but overall??? jury seems to be out

    @regehr Thanks. Yeah, I’m much more interested in the question of long-term stuff, software engineering rather than programming, etc. It’s really kind of amazing at generating code, but that’s more or less the uninteresting part when it comes to net benefit in my opinion. I’m totally with you on automating unpleasant things you can’t be bothered to learn because they’re not important to you (like makefiles).
