@crow I've been using RH since '97, and Fedora for as long as I can remember, at least since 2012 when I dumped WIndows. And I have no clue what this is about, as long as you're not using closed source Nvidia drivers (which have the same issue on any Linux). Which is why I'm asking as I don't understand the percieved problem (apart from personal preferences, like "I hate Gnome"). I don't see why you would need to configure more that what you expect. It isn't Debian 😏.

@wanwizard I’m going off what the original reply said about Fedora *while recommending it.* I recognize what I call “Linux Blindness” where advocates of 1 or another distro fail to recall the steep learning curve involved, and various gotchas in ANY distro if you’re doing anything even slightly odd. Like mounting drives or using Jellyfin. I have NO understanding of Fedora’s complexity, but based on having used more than one Linux distro over the years, I’m CERTAIN there is some.

@wanwizard And to give you some gauge of my knowledge, I just KINDA know what Gnome is and have certainly never considered not using a default desktop GUI. No idea what XFCE is (mentioned by the guy recommending #voidlinux). I’ve been a Mac guy since 1984 and really just expect things to work. So every Linux is painful for me, but I have needs only it will meet.
