It might be seen as a cash grab, but if it's done right, then it's really worth it. Another act who re-released a couple singles is Moving Mountains with Cover the Roots/8105, and it's also great to hear the small nuance in the track. Anyways, I know remasters and remakes in cinema/gaming can be crappy and total cash grabs, but given how rare they are in music, at least for what I listen to, I sure wouldn't mind some more.

@chriskirknielsen Yeah, a band re-recording old songs is very different from a movie remake. They've been playing those songs live all those years (usually), and those performances often evolve stylistically. A new recording captures that natural process. Usually that takes the form of a live album, but a new studio album can also be valid.

@chriskirknielsen I really like listening to demos and comparing them with the polished studio versions. You can hear how artists develop ideas and how all the subtle nuances are introduced over time. It’d be great if more artists could share them. I’m not sure whether it’s (understandable) reticence about showing their workings, or something more business-related, but it mostly seems to happen when labels decide to repackage and re-release only the most commercially successful heritage albums.
