Nope! You can definitely use it on mobile devices, but I'm afraid I don't know the technical details.
You might not be seeing it in Android because it's not called Mastodon?

@Her_Doing hrm. Left hand one is directly from the wandering.shop instance in chrime, right hand is in the mastodon app. It seems that the mastodon app has other chunks of functionality missing. Heyho! Thanks for the link!
