@ada @june i think the "universally banned" has something to do with how marriage (when viewed as a universal) is used to build ties/alliances/relationships between different families. at best, such marriages provide zero function. in the cases where a community is expected to provide something (e.g. wedding gifts) it can be seen as greedy since things like dowry or other material obligations stay within the family. (i'm probably wrong, tho)

@june@ublog.kimapr.net the "good" side of eugenicism is the tiny thin sliver of reasoning where you anticipate a child to have severe genetic issues like huntingtons or cancer. it's not a particularly good set of reasoning but it's one i can understand.
