@SuperMoosie @reiddragon @kevin It's amazing how this has reached insane proportions, it's not just that too many things are dynamic with no necessity, or that the dynamic parts sometimes rely on non-widely supported JS features, but also how much data it's now seen as acceptable to transfer... Remember itsfoss.com blaming Mastodon blurbs for high load while they were serving some 100 MiB uncompressed / 30 MiB compressed to display the article complaining about that? https://social.sdf.org/@njsg/113798138154140470

  • @njsg @SuperMoosie @kevin oh yeah, I remember that (didn't know their traffic was that bad, though) does get me wondering how much my site serves, though. The favicon and header background are probably the heaviest parts of the site but those should be a one and done deal after the browser caches them
