@raymaccarthy @MediaActivist Yeah. They mean "quantum efficiency", i.e. a single photon had more energy than needed to create a single electron/hole pair. So far, that excess is lost (to heat); the research found a way to convert (part of) that to electricity as well.

    @drahflow @MediaActivist I have a spreadsheet for series panel strings on an MPPT converter. The voltage is much higher on a cold bright day (-20 °C here inside last 4 years) if batteries are fully charges than May to August (max ambient +30°C here, but panel gets hotter). Without the sums you might think 4 panels in series is OK. It's nearly 5V too much no load, bright Jan/Feb/March (coldest time of year). Temperature coefficient!
