In my hometown, in the last week or so, two cyclists have died and one seriously injured after being hit by cars, ages 33, 67, and 86... Two cases are hit-and-runs and two cases were intentional targeting of the cyclist and using the car as a weapon. In the backdrop of this, the state house legislature has passed a bill to increase speed limits and eliminate vehicle inspections. Missouri 🤦 I honestly don't see the point of speed limits. Nothing will slow down drivers except radar and traffic calming infrastructure. Expecting people to drive at a reasonable speed on a road as wide as an airplane runway is wishful thinking at best.

Looking at local news, even just in the last year there's stuff like, "cyclist dead after being hit by four cars" "cyclist survives being trapped under bridge for 13 hours after jumping off to avoid SUV" I get there are worse countries than the US in terms of road accidents per capita but are there places with worse active and intentional malice towards pedestrians and cyclists?

Like, it's a bizzare place, bizzare culture, bizzare country. As a kid in Missouri running cross country I'd run around in short shorts a lot. People would call me a faggot and throw coins and water bottles at me out the window of passing cars. Until I had the bright idea of wearing American flag short shorts. Then people stopped the harassment and started chanting "U-S-A, U-S-A" 😔 it was my insurance powered by nationalism
