Point being, this is surprising. There are so many women doing incredible work in the R space, and it has such a good rep for inclusivity in c.f. to e.g. Python. But Python has had several women in their core dev team (which is only about 2 - 3 times the size of the R team).
I’m sure the reasons for the R core team being all male is multifaceted - but I do hope they can take (or are already taking!) steps to find, mentor, and retain women.

@jimgar@fosstodon.org there is a working group by the R Foundation to increase the pool of people that contribute to base R (and also to encourage women to do so). I think there is potentially a woman that could be added (if she accepted). The way the R core work and how python maintainers work is widely different, tough.
