@carbonwoman @christianrickert @Junicast Every TLD has a single operator. There needs to be a single point of authority where information are gathered, what name is registered to whom and to what nameserver. So even if there were multiple operators, there still needs to be a single trough for these information.

@dergrobi @carbonwoman @Junicast But even a single could provide redundant infrastructure? - It's hard to imagine, but still possible, that the operator had no failover system!?
