@migratory Okay, I was squarely in the “I don’t know if it’s actually a problem because I don’t think astronomy works that way now that we’re past the photographic-plates era” camp.
It sounds like my understanding was better than I thought. Cool.
That said, the sheer mass of shit our oligarchs are putting into orbit is cause for plenty of other concerns beyond mere “it’s messing up the view”

@cmdrmoto oh yeah, fuck 'em completely. but the "look at how they ruined this foto" angle is stupid. the only thing to get upset about is the terrestrial pollution and waste. hot take but kessler syndrome is fine by me, especially if it defangs "we can try again on Earth II" propaganda
