@ncf I now remember that even earlier I got a brief exposure to NBG, from Kaplansky's book, on the recommendation of my real analysis professor. So I got lucky twice! And because of this, I realize, one of my recurring roles on Math SE has been the guy who pops up to say that set theory doesn't have to always go the way ZF goes.
