Meta are a fuckin scourge on the internet. My poor linkding was getting hammered and now I've had to ufw their entire /24 and put everything behind basic auth.
The open web is a lovely, noble idea but pricks like this always come along and ruin it for everyone.

@johnke@mastodon.ie what I don’t understand is how the bot developers can do such a bad job. I’ve had bots hit the same static URL from the same IP hundreds of times a minute for no good reason, wasting their own bandwidth as well as mine. What are they trying to achieve?
