@_elena I'm more or less a random nobody, though I do lead a rather unusual and wide ranging life. In two years here, I have about the same number of followers (1000+) as I did after a dozen years on Twitter. I probably posted at least as much there as I do here. While the sometimes clunky UX definitely needs improvement, I think that means that, for most of us, we stay because we like it here, not because it's easy and the latest cool thing. That makes for a more authentic and active engagement by real people. If people are saying there is no engagement, I suspect it's because they came here, didn't know anybody, couldn't find anybody they knew (because discoverability is wretchedly bad here), made a few posts, got bored and left. Or maybe picked the wrong server and got attacked by Nazis or Karens. I guess I've been fairly lucky or something, because I've only blocked a few people for being dicks and I only recently had my first "HOA Karen" experience (ignored it).
