Why is deadnaming harmful to us trans people? If someone happens to intentionally deadname us, that person is essentially saying: - No matter what you do, you will always be <birth gender> named <deadname>. - I will not let you be <your gender> named <preferred name> - <preferred name> is not real. Only <deadname>. - You will never be a <your gender>. You are a <birth gender>. - Whatever your new name is, I will always call you <deadname>
