Retraction Watch verifies the judgment against Carla Rossi, in favor of Peter Kidd, in the long-running #receptiogate scandal. Rossi has to pay back the equivalent of $51,000 for fraud in obtaining grants for two plagiarized books, and is banned from receiving grants for 5 years. She is trying to spin, as a victory, the Federal Administrative Court of Switzerland's ruling that in a 3rd plagiarized book, "“only a small portion of the scientific work was taken from third parties without proper citation”. https://retractionwatch.com/2026/05/05/court-orders-historian-to-repay-grant-funding-for-pattern-of-plagiarism-in-books/ Since Rossi tried to claim that she invented the "Wayback Method"-- which involves looking at the Internet Archive's "Wayback Machine" to find the text of a publication -- it's a beautiful irony that the court dismissed her thin excuse that complainants looked at an "altered" copy of her book by going to to the Wayback Machine and comparing it with the version that she herself posted.
