@drj Many of the better funded universities already do this. The public availability of the code varies and I think the visibility of it is relatively low. Certainly compared to stuff on GitHub. Unfortunately, outsourcing tech functions is very popular in academic admin and the not so well funded institutions are probably not equipped to do it.

@hcayless@hcommons.social @drj@typo.social I don't think it has got much to do with 'better funded,' it just depends on the people who work there and their biases.
