This is really the upsetting part. That the idea of just regulating tech companies and not just letting them grind everyone's brain into a thin paste for ad revenue has become so unimaginable that it's preferable to just ruin a whole bunch of people's lives so you don't have to see it also happening to people who you can't bring yourself to victim blame.
