I have a long-standing relationship with the dirt road, having done the Old Caz bike ride nearly every year for twenty years. Because I wasn't a member of Gianni, before the trails went public, I've never seen those trails, but the variation over Islands in the Sky (what a name!) to Freezeout to Duncan's Mills is beautiful and amazing. Up Freezeout, ugh.

@Morgan I've been going to the Monte Rio trailhead and accepting 1200 feet of climb for the good stuff. My body does not always thirst for that opportunity.

@Morgan I have done a couple long runs on Old Caz Rd. One was when I drove to the end and ran down to Cazadero and back up. Not super long but a monster of a hill. Two places on my list are Myers Grade and King Ridge Rd.

I've ridden all of those, delightful. You've probably heard of grasshoppers? They are the brainchild of a guy named Miguel Crawford, local adventure rides among his buddies that blossomed into bigger events, I learned a lot of those roads from him and from those grasshoppers.
