If your experience in the Fediverse seems to be deteriorating, and you're thinking, "This isn't as fun as it used to be," there's a solution, and I don't mean dropping out.
1) Unfollow a person if their posts are starting to be unpleasant to you, even if you've been following them for a long time.
2) Look around a bit and follow someone else when you read a post you like.
Your experience in the Fediverse is intimately related to who you follow.

@fifonetworks@infosec.exchange muting is a way to not see a persons posts without them knowing. And filters are a great way of hiding or putting a content warning on posts you might not like to see all the time (cats, some sports, links to paywalls being some of mine).
