@bwebster @mdhughes I think the only game where this is actually RAW (besides this MM&M), is Pendragon, but there it's actually diegetic, and as a lordly knight, heirs do make sense. As a mandatory borderline between adventures, it makes little to no sense, never mind the wide definition of "adventure". The first sample adventure is a, well, let's call it a mystery, and takes 5 days to resolve. 1d4 years later, our young heroes are apparently still together, but go on another short adventuring vacation… Meh. I'm okay with a "LFQ" action that takes random roll of dice months to perform, at which point you add some time to get the characters together, unless they invest in a HQ, and then add some travel time (without necessarily going hexcrawly), and you got a duration cooking. There's something twixt level 10 Cohen the Barbarian and Pathfindery "adventure path speedruns"…

@mhd @mdhughes yeah I agree with you I think, it needs to be diagetic. It works well in Pendragon because your characters are knights, not adventurers, so you wouldn’t be expected to adventure 24/7, you have other responsibilities, and the roleplaying is not limited to “adventures”. It doesn’t make sense to force extended downtime for a “traditional D&D” dungeon crawl type game, and I think forcing more than a few months will always feel weird anyway.
