At a certain point you have to realize that there isn't a single person or company you can trust with your data. Only you can take that responsibility. So don't give sensitive data to companies that don't deserve it. Really, none of them do. I've been browsing @arstechnica and three of their top stories are about data breaches.

@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org I know what you mean. That's the reason I just finally got myself a selfhosted #NextCloud server that I access via #Tailscale at the moment. Will be upgrading that to my own selfhosted #Wireguard at some point so that I'm dependant on fewer companies. Not that I don't trust Tailscale, it's just always good to selfhost IMHO.

@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org @arstechnica@mastodon.social Dark reading and bleeping computer sources are full of data breaches and stuff. Nate from @sr@social.lol has a decent video podcast that covers this stuff literally dozens of them in a weekly cover story.

@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org @arstechnica@mastodon.social anyways thats the reason why having a nice homelab is great. Yunohost is pretty awesome and I use truenass to simply sync files across the network locally for different systems and since i use mainly linux, and some mac, and a windows pc for testing, i need file system interoperability across the whole shabanggg #/ lol
