@ireneista thanks. at the end of the day, the core problem was a lack of communication to the point that we *can't* know people's intents, so i refuse to try to guess them.
so, i just documented what happened, stated my stance on it, and left it at that. i clarify as people ask, and do my best to keep people from vilifying Marty while also avoiding defending him, because i *can't* know his full role here.

@ireneista this whole thing was also handled so poorly that like... i don't know that the intent matters? when something this egregious happens, the distinction between "handled with incompetence" and "handled with malice" disappears. so in the end, i don't know that i'd react very differently if i COULD point the finger at someone. it's not helpful, because it's all a symptom of a larger organizational problem in Ruby Central that i'd been pointing out for *years*.
