Union, KDE's new style engine, will be released with Plasma 6.7. Check out how it works and what changes it introduces to styling and theming for Plasma. https://quantumproductions.info/articles/2026-05/union-spring-2026-update Are you into theming? Take it for a spin and share what you build with Union! #theming #design #desktop #FreeSoftware #OpenSource

@kde It’s one thing for it to look good, but quite another—and for me, even more important—is performance. How does using CSS instead of SVG stack up when it comes to design?

@kde speaking of theming, it would be nice to be able to automatically switch more than just the global theme (dark mode) at night. It would be nice to also be able to set the window decorations, maybe even the rest of the other stuff under the Global Theme page (although those may not be used as frequently). Either way, Union with CSS styling is really neat, CSS or CSS-like syntax is imo the best way to style stuff, on the web and for software.

@kde I fkn love a window manager that looks like it came from the early 2000s (not kidding, that's why I've been using KDE since then).

@kde I always liked and still use Oxygen. CSS themes are slow on the GNOME side of things. I hope it isn't on kde with Union...
