I use some of my repos in a nix flake which also just does a http clone (I think) without authentication required.
Is your repository public? The behavior, as I know it, is to only ask for username and password when the repo is private.
Maybe there is a hiccup in the dataset of your repo, then you should open an issue in one of the codeberg issue repos (I don't know which is the correct one for this, sorry 😅)

@Epsilon_02 Yeah, I tried setting the visibility from public to private, and back to public, but it seems to always think my repository is private. For completeness, the repo is https://codeberg.org/ayhon/logical_verification_2025, in case someone has the time to give it a quick check. In any case, thanks for your input!
