@thephd nobody checks the compiler output for any project remotely close to production scale, because _that's why they are using compiled languages in the first place: not having to deal with assembly_. I'm speaking from experience: in my line of work (industrial C code), _nobody_ checks the assembly, and you would be crazy for suggesting they do. And yet, I agree with you, the "mildly competent ones" have sparkles in their eyes when I introduce them to Compiler Explorer.
