For me it's in part a "cost-benefit calculation".
The "emotional labor" involved and the expectations of how to behave often aren't worth the slim prospect of support.
Not only are a lot of forms of support treated as a given, while others are not, so is the expected way to deal with this support.
For me, even if I'd expect to be able to get help, the search for help and performance of "neediness" and "gratitude" seem more costly than the help I could expect.

@pathfinder If I could just fill out a form, with what support I need without being scrutinised and without "hidden costs", I'd immediately do it. Probably not to the extend that would actually be needed, but if it was "free", or at least "worth it", I'd take support. 2/2
