So, bizarre story. My wife went to school with this girl. She (wife) had gone to a school play her freshman year. This girl was the lead. My wife said her performance was something that actually changed the trajectory of her life. She got involved with theater after that, and became friends with this girl. She was certain that if anyone at her school was going to be famous in ten years, it would be that girl. The girl went to a famous art college to study acting. Ten years later, my wife has a dream about the girl, and decides to look her up. She finds an obituary dated days before. She was being evangelized as the “Joan of Arc of blockchain”. She somehow got involved with web3 and financiers and was the face of a major new startup. But then she disappeared from Silicon Valley literally overnight. She was found wandering the desert highways on foot in Nevada weeks later and was arrested and released to her parents. The story pieced together was that she lost funding, but also grew paranoid. She claimed that she had become disillusioned with the world and lost her will to live. Her friends said she would say “they’re after me” and refuse to elaborate. She went catatonic under her parents’ care and starved herself to death. The story never made much sense. How did she go from art school to peddling crypto? My wife looked back into it this morning because we were talking about it again last night. She found the girl’s name in the Epstein files, partially redacted, as a victim. And it all started to make sense.
