Merri-bek council is offering a $500 subsidy for new or refurbished e-bikes starting tomorrow (4th May).
"$500 off the purchase price of a new or refurbished bike, or 50% off a weekly subscription for 3-months (up to value of $500)."
It's only available from 2 specific stores and a limited range of bicycles.
The cheapest new bike under the scheme is the Veloomi Daily at $2199

@jessta@aus.social For a decade I transported kids to school by bike, towing a bike trailer with 1 or 2 kids in it or, later, a tag along. I'd drop the kids & lock the trailer along my commute to work. Now I find an ebike with cargo trailer is a great 2nd vehicle. I happily carry 40kg of cargo. Check the trailer width: 70cm is good; 90cm is too wide for the Upfield bike path. We love our Velectrix Cruiser STX. Very low step through. Very smooth torque assist mid drive motor. Hub gears, 3 speed is fine with the ebike. Belt drive. Got from Rays, 108 Sydney Rd Brunswick. $2649. https://velectrix.com.au/product/cruiser-pulse-stx-step-through-cruiser-electric-bike/
