@srslypascal "dedicated physical button" also on desktop? Do you remap from the default (wheel) to a thumb button? But most of my pasting is done with 'p' or 'P' anyway. 😊
As for Thinkpads I had one without separate buttons (just virtual as part of a clicky touchpad), it was horrible indeed.

@hambier I've been using mice with clickable scroll buttons on my desktop machines since the early 2000s at least for opening links in new Firefox tabs and closing tabs, years before I switched to Linux on my desktop machines. Windows does not use the middle mouse button for pasting by default (especially not with a separate clipboard like on Linux), but on the rare occasions where I help Windows users with IT issues, my muscle memory routinely tries pasting text using the middle mouse button.
