Be careful though, I found out that there's bugs in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 that can make weird things happen on occasion when opening settings via search. If I, for instance, search update history in the search box and click the option to view my update history, everything shows a count of 0 updates, even though I've been installing updates since September on this machine. Pressing the home button in Settings on my Windows 10 machine did go back to the Settings home page, but then selecting "Update and security" again to get to Windows Update totally crashed Settings. This didn't happen if I navigate directly to that page from within Settings.

So I think I can articulate why I don't use search to find settings very often. It just feels super unreliable, even when the setting I want is found. For instance, can anyone else reproduce this? From the start menu, search for "sign", and press enter on "sign-in options, system settings". Does the whole Settings app just kind of sit there?
