Year 2030: Wifi routers are only supplied by the government after they do a background check you paid for.
After it was approved a technician comes at your house to install it and put it inside a locked cage he drilled into the wall.
Users are unable to modify any network setting, if they are in a special situation where they need to, a request will have to be made and technician will visit after request was approved for custom setting.

Router proprietary firmware is made from scratch by the government, no one knows what runs into it and what it does, the only way to have internet is to have that impenetrable black box drilled into your wall at home. 2/2
