@nini @elizayer @hyc Rory Sutherland also points out the perverse bonus system of consultancies. The consultant get a bonus based on "cost savings" immediately. However, the destructive outcomes take months to manifest. Unhappy customers & payment delays. High absenteeism. Excessive voluntary attrition. Loss of process knowledge. Overwhelmed stakeholders. Enshittification. As #pluralistic describes it "Asbestos in the walls"; and years-long remediation required to fix technical debt.

    @Npars01 @elizayer @hyc The consultant, very much the start of the rot. They spoke of "running lean" and "cutting excessive costs" through some modernisation but undercut those gains by putting organisational black mold in the walls. Not only did it create a massive problem to fix down the line, it also made sure they couldn't fix it themselves though they could before.
